Insulted

WS-devo_PMSIt was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified Jesus. There was a sign with this charge against Jesus written on it: THE KING OF THE JEWS. They also put two robbers on crosses beside Jesus, one on the right, and the other on the left. [And the Scripture came true that says, “They put him with criminals.”] People walked by and insulted Jesus and shook their heads, saying, “You said you could destroy the Temple and build it again in three days.

The leading priests and the teachers of the law were also making fun of Jesus. They said to each other, “He saved other people, but he can’t save himself. If he is really the Christ, the king of Israel, let him come down now from the cross. When we see this, we will believe in him.” The robbers who were being crucified beside Jesus also insulted him. (‭Mark‬ ‭15‬:‭25-29, 31-32‬ NCV)

Here is the Son of God, the King of all Kings, openly displayed in a disgraceful way. The same Jesus who blessed little children, healed the sick, even raised the dead. The only truly innocent man in all of history. And what is the response of the people, including the religious leaders? Insults!

Many of us think, "Well, I wouldn't have been that way!" Yet, we insult Him in other ways. Sometimes we're too busy for Him, or we think He's too busy for us. Or, maybe we're too timid or embarrassed to share about our relationship with Him, or don't give, or do, our best for Him throughout the day.

We've all insulted Him in some way. Yet, He gave everything for us, and still intercedes on our behalf. And... He isn't ashamed of us, even when we're ashamed of ourselves. ©Word-Strong_2015
