After this, when Jesus knew that everything had now been finished, he said, “I’m thirsty.” He said this so that Scripture could finally be concluded. A jar filled with vinegar was there. So the soldiers put a sponge soaked in the vinegar on a hyssop stick and held it to his mouth.After Jesus had taken the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and died. "It is finished!" Jesus spoke with finality and all authority. All that the Law required for being right with God was accomplished through Jesus' life and death upon the cross. This finished work of redemption was sealed by the Lord's resurrection. You nor I can do anything to add to it. It is finished! ©Word-Strong_2013
