You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother.

I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this.

My bones were not hidden from you when I was being made in secret, when I was being skillfully woven in an underground workshop.

Your eyes saw me when I was only a fetus. Every day ⌊of my life⌋ was recorded in your book before one of them had taken place.

How precious are your thoughts concerning me, O God! How vast in number they are!

If I try to count them, there would be more of them than there are grains of sand. When I wake up, I am still with you. [vss 13-18]

I wish that you would kill wicked people, O God, and that bloodthirsty people would leave me alone. They say wicked things about you. Your enemies misuse your name.

Shouldn’t I hate those who hate you, O Lord? Shouldn’t I be disgusted with those who attack you? I hate them with all my heart. They have become my enemies.

Examine me, O God, and know my mind. Test me, and know my thoughts.

See whether I am on an evil path. Then lead me on the everlasting path. [vss 19-24]

ForFor the choir director; a psalm by David. (Psalms 139:13-24 GW)

Imagination can open doors of thought that lead to innovations, discoveries, and breakthroughs in many ways never considered. Albert Einstein's theory of relativity came to him while imagining light traveling through the universe.

Realization of a truth can stun and shock us when what becomes known through empirical science goes against long-held beliefs. The circumnavigation of the earth by ship disproved the idea of a flat earth, which was further confirmed by orbiting satellites and astronauts.

King David was not a scientist but understood the existence and nature of God at a depth that eludes many people. How? Imagination and revelation.

David opened his mind and his heart to the One who created him. He realized God's greatness and eternal nature in comparison to his smallness and weakness.

David grasped the intricate and complex nature of life as a student of nature and a worshipper of God. He thought about things most of us take for granted. He saw beyond what most of us see.

He saw God through the natural world and realized God is the Creator and Sustainer of all life. David understood God's goodness and his own capacity for evil, and that he fell far short of God's greatness.

Instead of cringing in fear or complaining about the struggles in his life, David learned to thank and praise God. His knowledge of God was intimate and personal. He understood God created and formed him in his mother's womb.

David realized God knew every thought and motive in his heart. Nothing is hidden to God.

David trusted God in the depths of his heart and the farthest reaches of his mind. He chose to embrace God's greatness and goodness and submit himself with implicit trust in God.

Do you ever consider or ponder God's greatness in relationship to your own life?

God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present everywhere, and He wants to have an intimate and personal relationship with you and me.
